La Descarga plays music that:

La Descarga have gained much praise for their interpration of salsa-music from authorities living in Europe and Latin-America. Their first recording “Descongelate” was released by the Norwegian label Farmen Records.
La Descarga have played at well known festivals like “Latinfestivalen” in Trondheim, Molde Jazzfestival, Kongsberg Jazzfestival, Sandvika, Dølajazz in Lillehammer, Hesperia winter carnival, Jyvaskyla summer jazz in Finland and sometimes they play exclusive concerts in their hometown Oslo, Norway.
Some background history
In 1985 a young Norwegian wen´t to Cuba, known as Salsa musics birth place, to investigate its many wonderful secrets. Back from his trip to Cuba he formed Norways first salsa band La Descarga with a Cuban vocalist and four jazz musicians – There was no turning back now!
Since 1986 and to this day La Descarga has improved and adopted more musicians along its way and is now a fullblown unit that will get the stiffest of us jumping in their dancingshoes. The reportoir ranges from authentic salsa, chachacha to funky timba. The band delivers this with great temperament, charm, presence and it all grooves vividly mind you! Just as good as anything that you can find abroad as we used to say here in Norway.
